Quality and compliance are at the core of everything we do. We operate under the ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System and have achieved UKCA marking accreditation for structural steel products in accordance with BS EN 1090-1:2009 + A1:2011, certified up to Execution Class 3.
The UKCA mark is a mandatory requirement for manufacturers of structural steelwork, demonstrating compliance with relevant British standards. It is a legal obligation for all fabricated structural steelwork placed on the market to conform to these standards
The harmonised standard that governs fabricated structural steelwork is BS EN 1090, and at Lomas, we have invested significantly in both personnel and quality control systems to ensure we maintain this certification to the highest level, year after year.
Our Factory Production Control (FPC) system and Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) are independently audited and assessed on an annual basis by SCCS (Steel Construction Certification Scheme Ltd) — a UK Notified Body (No. 2273) under the Construction Products Regulation (CPR 305/2011/EU).
Execution Classes Explained
Fabricated steelwork is categorised into four Execution Classes, each representing the complexity and criticality of the structure:
Execution Class 1 (EXC1) – Agricultural buildings (e.g. farm structures)
Execution Class 2 (EXC2) – Standard buildings (e.g. residential, commercial)
Execution Class 3 (EXC3) – Bridges and more complex structures
Execution Class 4 (EXC4) – Special structures (e.g. power stations, offshore platforms)
We are certified to Execution Class 3, allowing us to fabricate structural steel for a wide range of demanding applications, including bridges and large commercial or industrial buildings.
